PAINTED PHYLLIDIA (NUDIBRANCH) - (Phyllidia picta)

Description

Havannah, Harbour, Vanuatu. Approx. 25 mtrs. depth.

The Phyllidia genus of nudibranchs are part of the Dori group of nudibranchs. We have seen many different species during our dives at Havannah Harbour and some are notoriously difficult to identify. This particular specimen has been confirmed as Phyllidia picta. This photo taken using a snoot to narrow the beam of the flash and to create a black backround. This nudibranch also has a small parasitic copepod on the central tubercule.
