BORING GIANT CLAM - (Tridacna crocea)

Description

Havannah Harbour, Vanuatu. Approx. 3 mtrs. depth. Far from “boring” these are the smallest of the giant clams and burrow themselves deep into the cracks of reefs. Very common in shallow water and in a myriad of colours – a challenge to capture them with their mantles fully exposed like this one, as the slightest shadow will cause them to retract. This particular clam selected for the brilliant blue of its mantle.
