WHIP (AKA WIRE CORAL) GOBY - (Bryaninops yongei)
Description
Havannah Harbour, Vanuatu. Approx. 20 mtrs. depth. These opaque gobies are found on whip corals. They are a challenge to photograph as they dart up and down the whip. Good buoyancy is needed to hang without touching the coral and steady the shot. Having an open water background allows the photographer to vary the blue colour from dark to light by changing shutter speed – a fast shutter gives a dark blue background and a slower shutter allows a lighter blue.
